The life of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre

Leonard Bernstein was a conductor and composer, who won sixteen Grammy Awards, two Tony Awards and seven Emmy Awards throughout his career. He is well known for composing the musicals West Side Story and Candide, and the score for On The Waterfront. Bernstein was married to actress Felicia Montealegre from 1951 until her death in 1978.

Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper star in Netflix’s Leonard Bernstein biopic ‘Maestro’

Maestro is a biographical film about the life and work of Leonard Bernstein. The film is Bradley Cooper’s second directorial effort, after his 2018 debut A Star Is Born. Cooper also co-wrote the screenplay with Josh Singer (Spotlight, The Post). The film is produced by Cooper, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Fred Berner, Amy Durning, and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Matthew Libatique, who worked on A Star Is Born, in addition to Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan and more, leads the cinematography on the film. The film is distributed by Netflix.

Carey Mulligan stars as Bernstein’s wife, Felicia Montealegre, co-starring with Bradley Cooper as the iconic American conductor and composer, Leonard Bernstein. The film also features Matt Bomer as David Oppenheim, a close friend of Bernstein’s, Maya Hawke as Jamie Bernstein and Sarah Silverman as Shirley Bernsein. Michael Urie plays the acclaimed dancer and choreographer Jerome Robbins, with Gideon Glick as Tommy Cothran. Miriam Shor plays Cynthia O’Neal, with Sam Nivola as Alexander Bernstein and Alexa Swinton as Nina Bernstein.
