Synopsis

Grace siblings discover magic at Spiderwick, battle ogre for book

After her divorce, Helen Grace moves into the Spiderwick estate with her three children, Jared, Simon and Mallroy. While they're exploring, the trio find a special book about magical creatures written by Arthur Spiderwick. They go on exciting adventures while trying to keep the book safe from Mulgarath, an evil ogre who wants it for his own menacing plans.

Beloved book series receives adaptation from executive producer of Locke & Key

The Spiderwick Chronicles season 1 is the first season of The Roku Channel's fantasy-drama TV series from Aron Eli Coleite. The series is an adaptation of the popular book series written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The books were first published from 2003 to 2004 as The Spiderwick Chronicles and from 2007 to 2009 as Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles. The story follows the Grace siblings (twins Jared, Simon and sister Mallory) as they move into the grand Spiderwick estate and find out about magical creatures living there. Freddie Highmore starred in the 2008 film adaptation which was directed by Mean Girls helmer Mark Waters. The film made over $164 million globally on a $90 million budget.

Aron Eli Coleite has worked on numerous notable projects throughout his career. He helped develop Netflix's post-apocalyptic dramedy Daybreak and worked on the NBC series Heroes. In the comic book realm, he contributed to the Ultimate X-Men series during 2008-2009. Coleite also played a significant role in developing Netflix's successful series Locke & Key alongside Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill, which ran for three seasons. He serves as an executive producer for The Spiderwick Chronicles with original authors DiTerlizzi and Black, as well as Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, Julie Kane-Ritsch and Kat Coiro.

The Spiderwick Chronicles is led by Lyon Daniels as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell as Simon Grace and Mychala Lee as Mallory Grace. Joy Bryant (Parenthood) portrays Helen Grace. Jack Dylan Grazer (Shazam!) stars as Thimbletack and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) is ogre Mulgarath. Momona Tamada (Avatar: The Last Airbender) plays Emiko. Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak) portrays Calliope.
