28 Years Later

Danny Boyle returns to direct third “28 Days Later” film, with Cillian Murphy attached

28 Years Later is the upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film. It is the sequel to 28 Days Later, with Danny Boyle returning to direct, with a third film also greenlit. The acclaimed British director is the creative behind films like Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire and Yesterday. The screenplay is written by Alex Garland. Garland and Boyle are frequent collaborators, with Garland penning the screenplay for Sunshine, and the original 1996 novel which The Beach was adapted from. The two will also produce, with Cillian Murphy attached to executive produce as well.

A cast for 28 Years Later has not been confirmed, but it’s likely that acclaimed Irish actor Cillian Murphy will star. Murphy played Jim in 28 Days Later, a bicycle courier who woke up from a coma to find an aggression-inducing virus had been unleashed. Since the release of 28 Days Later in 2002, Murphy has starred in Inception, Peaky Blinders, Oppenheimer and many more films.
