Steve Martin is an American actor, writer, comedian and musician. Starting as a comedian in the 70s, Martin hosted Saturday Night Live in 1976 and has been consistently working in movies, comedy specials, theater, and music since. He received a Primetime Emmy Award,and has won five Grammy Awards. Martin has also been nominated for two Tony Awards and five Golden Globes. He is also an avid bluegrass musician, and released his first solo music album, ‘The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo’ in 2009.
Martin is well known for his frequent work with Martin Short. The pair have undertaken several national comedy tours together, as well as starring in many movies over the years including Three Amigos and Father of the Bride. In 2021, Martin and Short co-created and starred in Only Murders in the Building.
Martin has also been the recipient of a number of awards celebrating his entire body of work, such as an honorary Academy Award in 2013, Kennedy Center Honors in 2007, and an AFI Life Achievement Award in 2015.
