Synopsis

A family of mallard ducks go on an adventure as they migrate from New England to Jamaica

An adventurous mom in a family of mallard ducks persuades her homebody husband and their two kids to go on an adventure from their quiet New England pond all the way to Jamaica via New York City. As they migrate, plans go awry and the family learns how to embrace the unknown and expand their horizons together.

Migration is an animated adventure-comedy movie created by Illumination. The movie is written by Mike White, whose previous work include School of Rock and the hit HBO series The White Lotus. French animator and filmmaker Benjamin Renner directs Migration. Celebrated English composer John Powell, who wrote the music for movies like Chicken Run, Happy Feet, and How to Train Your Dragon, creates the songs for the movie.

Migration stars Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) as Mack Mallard, the stressed out father of the family of ducks. Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) voices Pam Mallard, Mack’s fierce wife, and Caspar Jennings and Tresi Gazal voice the two ducklings, Dax and Gwen. They are joined by Keegan-Michael Key as a Jamaican parrot, Awkwafina as the leader of a pigeon gang, Chump, British comedian David Mitchell as Rick, the leader of a duck farm, Danny DeVito as Mack and Pam’s grouchy uncle Dan, and Carol Kane as a family friend, Erin. Migration was released in cinemas on December 22, 2023.
