What to know

Picking up from the 90's hit X-Men: The Animated Series comes Disney's X-Men '97 revival

X-Men ‘97 is an upcoming superhero animated television series created by Beau DeMayo, who has previously worked on series such as The Witcher, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Moon Knight. The Disney series picks up from the beloved nineties series X-Men: The Animated Series which was developed by Eric Lewald, Sidney Iwanter and Mark Edens. Both series are based on the Marvel comic series written by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and revolve around a group of discriminated mutants who use their superpowers for good. The former series’ showrunners Eric and Julia Lewald provide oversight as consultants on the first ten episodes of the revival series to ensure continuity.

The entire voice cast from the animated series returns to reprise their original roles after 26 years. Lenore Zann voices Anna-Marie Raven/ Rogue, Cal Dodd as James Howlett/ Wolverine, Catherine Disher as Jean Grey, George Buza as Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy/ Beast, Alison Sealy-Smith as Ororo Munroe/ Storm, Chris Potter as Remy LeBeau/ Gambit, Adrian Hough as Kurt Wagner/ Nightcrawler. Christopher Britton stars as the series villain Nathaniel Essex/ Mister Sinister.
