Netflix welcomes spin-off of famed Castlevania animated series
Castlevania: Nocturne season 1 is the first season for Netflix's adult fantasy animated TV series developed by Kevin Kolde. It is a spin-off of the renowned Castlevania animated series which is based on Konami's video game franchise of the same name. Nocturne draws inspiration from two particular games, namely, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The Castlevania franchise has proven to be highly successful and popular, originating from the video games and subsequently expanding to encompass several spin-off games, novels and TV shows. In Nocturne, the story revolves around Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, set during the tumultuous period of the French Revolution.
Kolde, who previously co-showran the original Netflix animated series, serves as the executive producer and showrunner for Nocturne. He's also produced over 100 episodes of the popular fantasy animated series, Adventure Time. Meanwhile, Clive Bradley undertakes the role of head writer, bringing with him his expertise from working on various titles such as That Summer Day in 2006 and Trapped in 2015.
The voice cast includes Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Nastassja Kinski as Tera Renard, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Richard Dormer as the Abbot Emmanuel, Aaron Neil as Mizrak, Zahn McClarnon as Olrox and Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory/Sekhmet.
