Synopsis

Jack Dawkins thought he left his life of crime in London behind him when he moved to Australia in the 1850s to become a surgeon. However, when a familiar face reappears in his life, his thief persona (the Artful Dodger) reemerges as he struggles to live a double life.

The Artful Dodger is an action-drama series produced by Sony Television, Beach Road Pictures, and Curio Pictures for Disney+. The 8-episode series is based on the character Jack Dawkins, also known as the Artful Dodger, from Charles Dickins’ classic novel Oliver Twist. In the book, the Artful Dodger is a pickpocket and the leader of the child gang of thieves trained by Fagin who roam the streets of London. The series is created by James McNamara, David Maher, and David Taylor, and written by McNamara, Vivienne Walshe, and Andrew and Dan Knight.
The series stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones) as Jack Dawkins (aka the Artful Dodger), a surgeon and expert thief. He is joined by David Thewlis as Fagin, Dawkins’ mentor of sorts. The rest of the cast is rounded out by Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox, Damon Herriman as Captain Gaines, Damien Garvey as Governor Edmund Fox, and Lucy-Rose Leonard as Lady Fanny Fox.
