Synopsis

A love story that depicts the beauty and difficulty of a committed marriage under the spotlight

The marriage between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre is a complicated and dramatic story of love, commitment, compromise, and fame. After meeting at a party in 1946, the pair began a relationship that would last over 25 years and gift them three children. Leonard and Felicia live through their passions and practices in the entertainment industry while trying always to remain committed to their marriage.

Maestro is a biographical movie based on the composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre. The movie is directed by filmmaker and actor Bradley Cooper who also stars in the lead role as Leonard Bernstein. Bradley Cooper made his directorial debut with A Star is Born and this marks his second movie. Cooper also handles the screenplay alongside screenwriter Josh Singer, who is known for his work on Spotlight and First Man. Maestro counts Hollywood legends Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg among its producers.

Carey Mulligan stars in the lead role as Felicia Montealegre. Mulligan is known for her work on movies such as Promising Young Woman, The Great Gatsby and She Said. Maya Hawke stars as Jamie Bernstein while Sarah Silverman portrays Shirley Bernstein. Michael Urie takes the role of Jerome Robbins while Gideon Glick stars as Tommy Cothran.
