Looking at the intersection of race, gender, and class, the life story of Celie Harris is an investigation into the resilience and strength of black women. Spanning from a charged and violent childhood all the way through to her aching adult years, Celie finds friendship and love along a path, that is otherwise marked by trauma. Holding firm against the prevailing winds, the survival and strength of women is at the center of this story that above all else is a tale of liberation.
