Synopsis

Suzume must race against a powerful enemy to save Japan

17 year old Suzume finds herself in the middle of a terrifying mystery. After meeting a young man searching for a special door in a small Japanese town, something feels strange.

When Suzume finds the door in an old abandoned house, she cannot resist opening it and unlocks a portal to the unknown. These portal doors appear all over Japan and she must race against time to lock each one, before the Doors of Disasters destroy the country.

Hit Japanese film from Your Name (2016) creative team gets global release

Suzume no Tojimari is a fantasy adventure anime film from acclaimed director Makoto Shinkai (Your Name). Produced by CoMix Wave Films, Masayoshi Tanak serves as character designer and Takumi Tanji as art director. Both previously worked with Shinkai on previous projects, with Radwimps providing the film’s music. A novel adaptation of the film, written by Makoto Shinkai, was released on August 24, 2022. 

In her first ever anime voice acting role, Nanoka Hara stars as Suzume, winning the role from an open casting call. Matsumoto Hakuō voices the young man searching for the door, Eri Fukatsu as Suzume’s aunt Tamaki Iawto, Ryūnosuke Kamiki as Tomoya Serizawa and Kana Hanazawa as Suzume’s late mother Tsybame Iwatu.
