Synopsis

Set within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), The Flash tells the story of Barry Allen – the fastest man alive

The speedster decides to use his superhuman pace to travel back in time and prevent his mother from dying. But his move has unexpected and chaotic consequences. The Flash finds himself stuck in a reality where the evil General Zod has re-emerged and no superheroes exist to challenge him. The Flash must rally with what allies he can find. Between a retired Batman, another Barry Allen, and a locked-up Supergirl, The Flash has friends, but does he have the time to save this world from certain destruction?

What to know

The Flash resets the DC Extended Universe and brings in a new era

he Flash is a superhero movie based on the DC comic book character of the same name. It takes place in continuity with other DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movies such as Wonder Woman, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Ezra Miller stars as The Flash a.k.a. Barry Allen. Joining Miller in the lead cast is Ron Livingston as Henry Allen (Barry's father) – a man wrongfully convicted of murdering his own wife.

Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are both stepping back into their iconic Batman suits for the movie. Keaton first played the caped crusader in Tim Burton's Batman in 1989 and will reprise his role in The Flash as Bruce Wayne from an alternate universe. Having already fought side-by-side as members of the Justice League, the movie also marks Ben Affleck’s last appearance as Batman in the DCEU. The Flash also marks the DCU debut of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl portrayed by Sasha Calle.

The Flash was released in theaters on June 16, 2023. You can keep up with the latest streaming news about The Flash here on JustWatch. We’ll let you know what your streaming options are, where you can watch it online legally for free, and when the movie is available in 4k.
