Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix reunite for Napoleon Bonaparte historical epic

Napoleon is a historical biographical epic film directed by Ridley Scott. The screenplay is written by David Scarpa (All The Money In The World), with Dariusz Wolski serving as cinematography director and Martin Phipps composing the score. The film is produced by Ridley Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Mark Huffam and Joaquin Phoenix.

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the titular role of Napoleon Bonaparte. Phoenix and Scott previously worked together on the historical film Gladiator, where Phoenix played Commodus. Vanessa Kirby stars as Napoleon’s infamous lover Empress Josephine de Beauharnais, with Tahar Rahim as Paul Barras. Barras was a politician and executive head of the Directory during the French Revolution. Ben Miles plays Napoleon’s close advisor Caulaincourt, with Ludivine Sagnier as Theresa Cabarrus. Matthew Needham plays Napoleon’s brother, Lucien Bonaparte. The cast also includes Youssef Kerkour, Phil Cornwell, Edouard Philipponnat, Ian McNeice, Rupert Everett, Paul Rhys and Catherine Walker.
