Synopsis

The founders of BlackBerry struggle to survive their own success

Mike Lazaridis and Douglas ‘Doug’ Fregin are friends developing a groundbreaking idea: putting e-mail capabilities into a mobile phone. The concept would be the winning idea of the early 2000s and revolutionize the budding tech industry. But before the meteoric rise of the company and its flagship product, the BlackBerry smartphone, the business needed a shot in the arm from cutthroat capitalist Jim Balsillie. As sales soared and the business thrived, the people behind the product grew isolated by their success and the multimillion-dollar empire began to crumble.
