Born in the cluttered kitchen of an Italian restaurant, Garfield is a testy orange tabby cat. Known for his limitless love of lasagna and pizza, his adventures never stray so far that he cannot dine on the fine foods of Italian cooking. Telling the story of his father, Vic, and giving an insight into Garfield’s time as a kitten, there is much still to reveal about the life of this luxuriating feline. Sarcastic and manipulative, loveable and lazy, Garfield’s latest outing will see some family drama between the caustic quips.
Garfield is an upcoming animated comedy movie based on the main character from the Jim Davis comic strip of the same name. Davis serves as an executive producer on the project. This latest adaptation, which will be fully animated, differs from previous cinematic iterations of Garfield, which have been a mix of live-action and CGI. Directing the latest effort is the American filmmaker and effects animator Mark Dindal. Dindal is known for directing Cats Don’t Dance, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Chicken Little. He is paired with Finding Nemo screenwriter David Reynolds who is handling the script.
Voicing the orange fur ball in the lead role is American comic actor, Chris Pratt. Known for his roles in television and later for his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pratt has a long list of leading roles behind him. Despite leading the cast, he is not the only actor in the film with an impressive CV. Cast as Vic, Garfield’s father is the iconic and unmissable Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson will be bringing to life this new character to the franchise. The expanded cast includes Nicholas Hoult, the loveable Ving Rhames, British actor and singer, Hannah Waddingham as well as Brett Goldstein and Cecily Strong.
