The Space Race never ended in this counterfactual sci-fi drama

In this alternate history, the Soviet Union, led by the efforts of Sergei Korolev, succeeds in putting the first man on the moon, leaving the United States in the dust of the Space Race. Consequently, the USSR goes from strength to strength, growing more technologically advanced in other areas too. The United States struggles to keep pace as NASA astronauts face the daunting task of bettering their Russian counterparts, who remain ahead in nearly every field.
