Synopsis
Alexander Strauss is taken prisoner by a serial killer with a highly unusual request: to get help controlling his homicidal urges. While trying to free his captor of the morbid affliction, Alexander navigates his own repressed demons that are as turbulent as his captivity.

The Patient is a psychological thriller limited series created, written, and executive produced by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg for FX on Hulu. Weisberg was the mind behind the hit spy drama, The Americans, which Fields also executive produced.
The Patient stars Steve Carrell in the role of Alexander Strauss, a psychiatrist mourning the recent loss of his wife. Though Strauss stoically maintains a composed exterior, he is deeply tormented by the pain of his wife's passing. Steve Carrell is best known for his role as Michael Scott in the NBC sitcom, The Office – a role for which the actor received 10 Primetime Emmy nominations.
Domhnall Gleeson plays the kidnapping serial killer hoping to radically turn his life around. Gleeson is known for playing Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter film series and for his work in Ex Machina, Anna Karenina, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He is joined by Linda Edmond, Laura Niemi, Andrew Leeds, Alex Rich, and David Alan Grier. The Patient was released exclusively on Hulu on August 30th, 2022
