In 1984, Nike is struggling in the sports shoe market and CEO Phil Knight needs a breakthrough. With Converse dominating the world of basketball, Nike is falling way behind. Shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro is tasked with raising the profile of the division. He watches tape after tape of basketball rookies before spotting something extraordinary. Sure that this young rookie will go on to dominate the NBA, Sonny bets his entire future on the success of a young Michael Jordan. With a multi-sneaker deal in the offing, Sonny Vaccaro pitches Air Jordan to the world and waits for the response.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon mark their ninth onscreen appearance together in a major movie
Air is a biographical sports drama movie. It is directed by the acclaimed actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck, who gained recognition as the co-writer of Good Will Hunting, for which he won his first Academy Award. He later won the Academy Award for Best Picture for his 2013 film Argo. Affleck is joined by the multi-award-winning Robert Richardson, who handles the cinematography. Screenwriter Alex Convery is in charge of the script. Air is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports, Artists Equity, and Mandalay Pictures.
Air features a star-studded cast list led by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck who play Sonny Vaccaro and Phil Knight respectively. They are joined by actor Jason Bateman who plays Rob Strasser and decorated actress Viola Davis who plays Deloris Jordan. Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, and Matthew Maher round out the cast. Air was released in cinemas on April 5, 2023.
