Synopsis
A charismatic young grifter wreaks havoc in the life of a wealthy hedonist in exile
Dickie Greenleaf is luxuriating in his life away from America. The wealthy young socialite belongs to the elite of society but spends his time drinking and dancing with his lovers in a small Italian town. When his father employs Tom Ripley to bring him home, he sets into motion a mysterious chain of events that leads to a shocking conclusion.

Ripley Season 1 is a psychological thriller drama based on the book, The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. This series marks the second adaptation of the book after the movie of the same name was released starring Matt Damon and Jude Law. Ripley Season 1 is written and directed by Steven Zaillian who is known for his show, The Night Of. Zaillian has also written movies such as The Irishman, American Gangster, and Schindler’s List. Ripley Season 1 features the talents of cinematographer Robert Elswit, who won an Academy Award for his work on There Will Be Blood.
Andrew Scott stars in the lead role as Tom Ripley. The Irish actor has previously been in shows such as Oslo, Sherlock, and Fleabag. Starring opposite him is Johnny Flynn in the role of Dickie Greenleaf and Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood. Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy, and John Malkovich all feature in the cast. Ripley Season 1 was released on April 4, 2024 on Netflix.
