Charles Ryder and his wealthy Catholic family reside in Brideshead Castle – a palatial castle in the English countryside. The season follows Charles’ trials, tribulations and romances from the 1920s until the 1940s. Andrew Garfield stars in the leading role.
The mini-series is an adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, The Sacred & Profane Memories of Captain Charles Ryder, by Evelyn Waugh. The story was previously seen on the small screen in 1981, with an adaptation that starred Jeremy Irons as Charles Ryder.
