  • Having already worked on The Mandalorian, Deborah Chow is announced as the show’s director.   • It is confirmed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will use the groundbreaking technology known as "Stagecraft," which has also been used on The Mandalorian. (Source: SlashFilm)
• 10th December, 2020
  • The official title is revealed – Obi-Wan Kenobi – and Hayden Christensen is announced as part of the cast. He will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker a.k.a. Darth Vader. (Source: StarWars.com)

  • More casting news reveals that Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are returning to the Star Wars franchise. They will reprise their roles as Owen Lars and Beru Whitesun Lars respectively, with both characters having “important roles” throughout the TV show.   • The first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi drops, featuring Kenobi traveling across Tatooine and watching over a young Luke Skywalker. The trailer also shows the first appearance of The Grand Inquisitor in live action. The iconic Star Wars villain is played by Rupert Friend. (Source: YouTube)

  • Disney release an announcement video featuring Ewan McGregor. The show's lead actor explains that Obi-Wan Kenobi's release date has shifted to 27th May, 2022. Although this means viewers have to wait an extra two days before they can watch the show, it was also revealed that episodes 1 and 2 will both be available on this date. (Source: YouTube)

  • Disney releases a new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi in honor of Star Wars Day. Darth Vader's appearance in the show is teased in the trailer with the characters famous heavy breathing in the clip's last moments.   • Disney releases "A Series of Firsts," an Obi-Wan Kenobi featurette for the miniseries. In it, Ewan McGregor discusses watching Star Wars for the first time and the moment he was asked to choose his lightsaber's design.
