"The Marvels is essential viewing for those following along with the MCU, as its shocking cameos have huge connotations for the franchise's future. It will also appeal to fans of Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy, who enjoy lighter, funnier, and zanier superhero films. Even those not well-versed in the MCU can enjoy the lighthearted tone and the Powerpuff Girl-reminiscent lead female superhero team. The Marvels is funny and light enough for all audiences to enjoy, but it has a few special moments reserved for devoted MCU fans."

"The Marvels is, to put it simply, a very fun movie. It’s not the deepest or most emotional storyline we’ve seen in the MCU, but with fantastic performances from Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, it’s an incredibly enjoyable ride. Fans who appreciate Guardians of the Galaxy’s use of music will especially love The Marvels’ soundtrack, which features everyone from The Beastie Boys to Barbara Streisand. Also, stick around for the credits. No spoilers…but you’re gonna want to see it."

Synopsis

Carol Danvers has been busy battling galactic threats off-world as Captain Marvel. While investigating a wormhole in outer space, she becomes inextricably linked to her niece (Monica Rambeau) and her biggest superfan (Kamala Khan). While Captain Marvel usually flies solo, this cosmic coincidence forces her to work with others to save the universe from the threat of the Kree.

The Marvels is a sci-fi superhero movie produced by Marvel Studios. It takes place within Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and was directed by Nia DaCosta – who makes history as the youngest director of an MCU film to date.
The events of two Disney+ TV shows lead up to The Marvels. Firstly, Marvel fans saw Monica Rambeau's superhuman abilities grow as she helped save the people of Westview in WandaVision. Secondly, Kamala Khan discovered her Djinn heritage in Ms. Marvel. The season finale gave Marvel fans their first hint as to how the trio's fate is intertwined in The Marvels.
Brie Larson reprises her role as the iconic Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. She is joined by Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. Samuel L. Jackson also returns as Nick Fury. Korean actor Park Seo-joon is also cast in the movie. Zawe Ashton plays main villain Dar-Benn. The Marvels was released in theaters on November 10, 2023.
